3 Tips For Cleaning Your Wooden Furniture

Posted on

From chairs that are made completely from wood to other pieces that feature wooden legs and other wooden parts, wooden furniture is often beautiful and durable. To make your furniture look its best and to enjoy it the most, it is important to keep it clean. These three cleaning tips should make it a breeze to keep your furniture pieces looking fantastic.

1. Mix Up a Gentle Detergent

First of all, you will need to mix up a good detergent to wash your furniture with. Some cleaning chemicals are too strong and can strip off the protective finish on your furniture, so you will want to avoid those ones. Instead, a good option is to mix up a few drops of dish washing liquid with a bucket or pot full of warm water. It will be strong enough to get dirt and grime off of your furniture, but you should not have to worry about it stripping off the finish or otherwise hurting your furniture.

2. Use a Toothbrush

Even if you clean your wooden furniture frequently, you have to worry about the nooks and crannies getting dirty. When scrubbing with a rag is not enough, consider breaking out an old, clean toothbrush. This will allow you to get into some of the nooks and crannies on your furniture until your furniture pieces look their best.

3. Finish with Wax

Once your wooden furniture is nice and clean, you will probably want to keep it that way. One great way to do so is to apply a furniture wax. Apply the wax according to the package directions; this shouldn't be too difficult. After applying it and allowing it to sit, you can use a clean cloth to gently buff the wax. Not only will the wax bring out a gorgeous shine in your furniture, but it will also work well for protecting your furniture from dirt in the future. You can purchase this wax from a furniture store or from the cleaning supply section in your favorite store -- just look for a wax that is meant for wooden furniture.

Keeping your wooden furniture clean is important if you want to keep it looking its best. Luckily, following these three tips should help you get the job done quickly and effectively.
